Brattleboro Yoga And Movement Arts (YAMA) is a beautiful and spacious studio overlooking the Connecticut River. Located on the top floor of Brattleboro’s Hooker Dunham building, the YAMA space is connected to water, air, and earth. The studio’s huge windows face Mt. Wantastiquet, inviting us to open to nature and possibility.
Previously known as Prakriti Yoga Studio, Brattleboro YAMA is now a collective of skilled teachers who envision this space as more than just a yoga studio. We love that our new name forms the acronym YAMA. In Patanjali’s yoga sutras, the yamas are guiding principles that help us remember right action in the world and in relationship to ourselves and others.
YAMA offers classes that explore who we are through the lens of yoga and movement. We believe the body is an incredible vehicle for creative expression and a path for self-discovery. Yoga, qi gong, kung fu, and other movement arts can provide physical well-being (such as increased strength, flexibility and relaxation)— but also offer us opportunities for deeper healing.
YAMA’s mission is to provide powerful movement classes in a serene and supportive environment. Everyone is welcome.
Inspired and ongoing group practice with a teacher can create the foundation for your personal practice. Even an occasional class can plant the seeds of vitality and joy. Come join us at YAMA for regular classes, workshops, or a drop-in class that fits your life.
